Our Commitment to Privacy

Our Privacy Policy was developed as an extension of our commitment to combine the highest-quality online experience with the highest level of integrity in dealing with our visitors, contributors and volunteers. The Policy is designed to assist you in understanding how we collect, use and safeguard the personal information you provide to us and to assist you in making informed decisions when using the Deutsch for Senate website.

What Information Do We Collect?

When you visit our Web site you may provide us with two types of information: 1) personal information you knowingly choose to disclose that is collected on an individual basis, and 2) Web site use information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse our Web site.

Personal Information

When you enter personal data on deutsch2004.org (such as name, address, telephone number, email address and so on), we use the information you provide to send you campaign news or to contact you regarding volunteering, if you so indicated. We will not sell or provide this information to any third party, under any circumstances, unless required by law.

Aggregate Data

Our definition of personal information does not include "aggregate" information. Aggregate information is data we collect about a group or category of services or users from which individual user identities have been removed. For example, we may compile a report that indicates that a certain number of our users visit certain pages on our Site. Aggregate data helps us understand trends and user needs so that we can better consider new services or tailor existing services to user desires.

Online Contributions

Under Federal Election law, we are required to make periodic filings that provide the Federal Election Commission with information on each contributor: name, address, amount of contribution, date of contribution, employer and occupation. For more information on the FEC, visit their web site at http://www.fec.gov. To make a contribution online, we also ask for your credit card number and its expiration date.

How Do We Use Information We Collect from Cookies?

We use software tools such as Web server logs to gather information about our Web site users' browsing activities, in order to constantly improve our Web site and better serve our visitors. This information assists us in designing and arranging our Web pages in the most user-friendly manner and to continually improve our Web site to better meet the needs of our site visitors. Web server logs allow us to count how many people visit our Web site and evaluate our Web site's visitor capacity. We do NOT use these technologies to capture your individual email address or any personally identifying information about you.

How Do We Secure Information Transmissions?

E-mail that you may send to us, or forms that you may submit, may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the information. For that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as Social Security or account numbers to us through an unsecured e-mail or forms.

What About Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information?

We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, in other words, when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by Websites linked to or from our site nor the information or content contained therein. Often links to other Web sites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to the users of our site.
