Rules of Solicitation for the Deutsch for Senate Campaign (FAQs)
The following are guidelines to be adhered to whenever making a solicitation on behalf of of the Deutsch for Senate campaign:
Q: How do I make out my check?
A: Checks should be made payable to: "Peter Deutsch for Senate"
Q: Are there any limits?
A: A candidate may not accept a contribution in excess of $2,000 from any individual per election period (primary & general).
Q: Where may I mail my check?
A: Checks may be mailed to: Peter Deutsch for Senate, P.O. Box 816215, Hollywood, FL 33180
Q: May I contribute by Credit Card?
A: Yes, you may contribute by credit card. You may contribute on the internet by going to www.deutsch2004.org. We will, however, need your credit card information (Name on card, account number & expiration date). We also need to have your complete name, address & occupation, if your contribution is OVER $200.
Q: What about accepting a cash contribution?
A: Yes, the Deutsch for Senate Campaign MAY accept cash contributions up to $100. We will need the contributor’s name and address, however. As a general matter of law, NO person shall make or accept a cash contribution in excess of $100.
Q: How soon do checks need to be deposited once received?
A: All funds received by the Deutsch for Senate campaign shall be deposited as soon as possible, but no later than the end of the 10th day following the receipt thereof. A contribution is considered to be received by the campaign when it is initially received by an agent of the campaign, not simply when it is sent to campaign headquarters.
Q: May we accept in-kind contributions?
A: In-kind contributions are subject to the same contribution limitations as monetary contributions. An in-kind contribution is anything of value except money made for the purpose of influencing the results of an election. However, an individual may spend up to $1,000 per candidate per election for the costs of food, beverages and invitations for a fundraising event held in his or her own home, without making a contribution. Please contact the campaign for more details.
Q: May my minor child make a contribution to the Deutsch Campaign?
A: A child under the age of 18 may NOT make a contribution.
Q: I will be hosting a fundraising event for Congressman Deutsch, are there any special rules to follow?
A: Yes. No printed invitation should be sent out without the following disclaimer "Paid for by Peter Deutsch for Senate", and it must be enclosed in a box. Additional disclaimers may be required under FEC and IRS rules. All text of any invitation should be reviewed and approved by the campaign.
Contributions or gifts to Deutsch for Senate are not tax deductible.
